Second Grade

Second graders are stars in God’s wonderful rescue story. Each child is equipped with a unique set of gifts that God is using to redeem His people and His world. Our deep hope is that our students can identify their gifts and become active workers in His world.

Second grade academics are exciting!  It is a transition year in reading since the children are moving from learning to read to reading to learn. It is also a time to creatively apply new skills to their writing assignments, science experiments, devotions, and math problems. Students deepen their knowledge not only in core subjects, but also in their continued study of Spanish, Technology, Bible, and Fine Arts. It is a year when the children build responsibility and independence.

Worship time in second grade is a highlight. Once a week we gather together and sing contemporary worship songs as well as traditional hymns. Also, our 2nd grade students practice their leadership skills by leading devotions each week. The second graders take part in leading chapels where they demonstrate their singing and reading talents. Finally, we spend a significant amount of time sharing prayer requests with one another and celebrating answered prayers.

It is a delightful year as we discover the personalities and gifts of each learner. We view each student as a unique child of the King, and we work to meet the needs of each one.
