Fourth Grade
Welcome to fourth grade! This is a year all about being BOLD. Our Deep Hope is that students Believe God’s story, Own their gifts and faults, Love God and others, and Do what He called us to do. We know God has prepared each child with a unique set of gifts that He will use in His story and we are honored to help them develop those gifts throughout fourth grade.
Fourth grade is a big year of independence. This is a year spent reinforcing the unbelievable amount of knowledge the students have already gained over the years and transition to independence in their work and routines. We do a plethora of hands-on projects and simulations. Some highlights include presenting on the United States using a bag, exploring measurement and conversions through playdough, demonstrating our creativity as we invent Rube Goldbergs, and traveling to Lansing as we learn about our capitol. In reading, students get to explore the genres of fantasy, history, and more as they work through reading groups and book talks. Finally, students learn to be organized as they switch teachers for Science one trimester.
It is a joy to be able to partner with you as we work to serve each child emotionally, socially, academically, and spiritually. Our hope is that throughout the year, each child knows the deep love of the Father and strives to live out I Timothy 4:12. “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”
