I am very grateful that God has placed me in this occupation and I am beyond thankful to be teaching at Byron Center Christian School. I have experienced Christ’s love in many ways throughout my life and because of that, I choose to teach in a Christian School. That way I can share the love that Christ has for us.

I grew up in Zeeland, MI and attended Zeeland and Holland Christian schools. I graduated from Central Michigan University in 2018 with an education degree and a major in Language Arts. I have always loved working with children, I have worked at two Christian summer camps: Great Escape and Right Tree.

In March of 2019, I married my husband and best friend. We have enjoyed creating our home and pursuing God together. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors in God’s creation or playing card games with my family.

Favorite Verse: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” John 10:10

It is my Deep Hope that our students Believe God’s story, Own their gifts and faults, Love God and others, and Do what He called us to do. Be BOLD. 1 Timothy 4:12 “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.”

God has blessed me with a passion for teaching since I was a child. He continues to show me my blessings every day that I am able to teach at Byron Center Christian. It is a true joy to be able to serve the Lord while doing something I love.

I am a BCCS graduate myself! I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Central Michigan University. After graduating from CMU in 2019, I began my career here in 4th grade at BCCS. Since then, I obtained my Master of Education - Inclusion Specialist degree from Calvin University in 2022. In August of 2023, I married my husband. We love spending time with family and friends, working on projects together, and being outdoors. I also enjoy being active physically and mentally, playing sports, coaching volleyball, and doing challenging puzzles.

I truly value the Christian Education I received and hope to provide your children with the same love and excitement for Jesus as my teachers instilled in me. One verse that has been influential to me in my teaching career is 1 Timothy 4:12 which says, “Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.” My hope is that my students are able to see the impact they can have on those around them despite their age.

I was born and raised in Kalamazoo, MI and attended Kalamazoo Christian Schools. I then graduated from Calvin College in 2015. After graduation I taught a variety of classes at East Martin Christian for three years. Most recently, I taught 4th grade for six years at Holland Christian and coached girls JV golf for the past three years there as well. My wife, Charissa, and I were married in 2016 and we enjoy all sorts of different activities, but we especially love playing golf, and going on walks with our dog Samson. We built our home in Byron Center in 2021, and we have loved living here in Byron Center where we are so close to our families. In October of 2023 we welcomed our child, Ryleigh, to our small family and we couldn’t be happier.

I love teaching in a Christian school where I can share my love for Christ and lead God’s children by example. We have the amazing opportunity to not only raise children to be lifelong learners but to be lifelong followers of Christ who share their love with those around them. It is my goal that my students grasp the intense love that God has for us and that we can glorify Him by pouring that love out onto others.
