Student Life
Chapel: Chapel is held once a week on Friday mornings at 8:00 AM for middle school and typically in the afternoon in 1st through 4th grade. Preschool through kindergarten students have chapel at a variety of times and days. Parents are welcome to attend chapels! We will also have occasional all-school chapels.
Counseling Services: We have an assigned school counselor through Pine Rest available for any student who may need counseling services or additional support.
MAP Growth: Starting in 2nd grade, students begin NWEA MAP testing. This is a formative standardized test given so we can track individual student growth. Results are nationally normed.
Workshop Learning: Workshop learning refers to a teaching strategy where teachers provide a short period of large group instruction followed by a time of individual or small group work. Teachers then conference with students to provide them with the individual attention they need.
Project-Based and Simulation Learning: This teaching strategy is introduced in lower elementary, but is utilized in 4th grade on up. Students are given opportunities and projects to show what they have learned in order to make learning both lasting and formational.
Parent Involvement
We love the partnership we have with our parents and are blessed by the many ways they work with us to serve our school. Opportunities include everything from serving on the school board to helping supervise lunch or playground time. We do not have a requirement for service hours but ask that families play an active role in supporting BCCS in the ways they feel gifted or called.
